Grants Awarded 2026

Across much of Africa, pastors and ministry leaders are often the first and only source of care for people and families facing depression, trauma, marital distress, and crisis. Many lack formal training in practical counseling and crisis intervention, placing a heavy burden on both leaders and congregants.

The DTS Global Counseling Education Initiative equips pastors, seminary faculty, and ministry leaders with biblically grounded counseling training integrating theology, psychology, and practice. During a sabbatical, it will offer interactive workshops, conferences, and instructional forums in English-speaking regions of Africa, providing practical tools to address mental and emotional suffering in local communities.

Who Is Your One? is a one-year media campaign renewing the church’s commitment to visible, intentional, one-on-one discipleship. Inspired by Dr. Howard Hendricks’ question, “Who are your men?”, it will feature respected DTS alumni and the people they intentionally discipled. Each episode will be recorded in high-quality audio, with select episodes also captured on video: the first half will highlight the alumnus’ ministry and discipleship relationship, while the second half will show how that relationship shaped the disciple’s character, calling, and ministry.

DTS Houston Student Burnout Retreat

As DTS prepares students for ministry in an increasingly interconnected global church, faculty must be equipped not only with deep biblical training but with intentionally formed cross-cultural understanding that directly shapes classroom teaching. While many DTS faculty already travel internationally, such travel is often ministry- or research-focused and does not consistently result in sustained cultural learning or measurable curricular change. The DTS Faculty Global Experience addresses this gap by intentionally linking immersive global engagement to pedagogical transformation.
